"Like sands through the hour glass.....so are the days of our Lives..................
Well, it works for the opening line of a soap opera, just thought it might be appropriate for my blog.... The only problem is, that times isn't flowing like sand through a hour glass.....its more like running water over a rock.....faster and faster everyday!!
It seems I was just talking about little Ellie being born...and now she is already over two weeks old! It won't be long and I will be telling her how little she used to be while I place my teeth in a glass on the bed-stand!! She will look up at her mommy Jessica and say....."MOM, that is so gross how grandma does that with her teeth"!!!! Jessie will reply back to her....I know dear, that's nothing, you should see what she does when she tries to eat spaghetti!!!" Enough on that subject...
Time has been just flying by, I haven't been doing a very good job with my blog...seems by the time I get in the house in the evening, its so late, I don't feel like messing with a computer for a half hour....and so I don't.
But, tonite you got lucky! I took a few pictures of my garden a couple of days ago before the torrential rains came down and smashed everything..My lillies still look pretty good and everyday a few more open. If you didn't notice, I really have a lilly theme going in the garden....I guess when you buy a gross or more of bulbs they will dominate the landscape. I dont mind though, they really are pretty and will get more so each year.
I finally have absolutely everything out of the greenhouse and out living on its own in the landscape. My list of jobs for the weekend is getting mind-boggling...could it be I have bit off more than I can handle? Well too late for concern!! So, this weekend it is 1) Put together my lawnsweeper..I am in desperate need for mulch! 2.) Hang my bird feeders and fill the ones already up 3.) Weed Weed Weed 4.) Mow the entire yard....again! 5.) Wash 6.) Clean house.....oh that is entirely enough..Im getting depressed!!
Hope you all have a great weekend......if you're bored come on over...there is plenty of jobs for everyone!
until next time.....MOM

I thought, I thought and then I thought some more......
I tried and tried to come up with just that something special that would just kind of sum up the thoughts that Kurtis and I had regarding the last two weeks activity in our lives. We lost Kurtis's mother to cancer, we adopted a nice new little puppy and Jessica and Rob have given us a beautiful new grand-daughter.....then it came to me.....I really don't need to say anything......I'm just going to post the pictures I took of Kurtis out on the back porch this evening. I think they speak for themselves quite well. He informed me that he never had the occasion to smoke a good cigar after the birth of a baby before...and by god is was just now the right time to do it. I guess I couldn't argue too much, even though I find it disqusting..maybe he has been through just about enough that he can do as he pleases. I did however, have to remove the small little dog from his arms before she was asphixiated......
Until next time......MOM (Grandma)

ELISABETH ANNE YOUNG..(ELLIE) .....7LBS 4.8 OZ ..20 INCHES BORN 6:28P.M. 6.06.06
It is official..I am a grandma! I have to tell ya, as nervous as I was about getting that title....I'm standing proud today! We have set a new record at the Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines! I spent some time this morning interviewing several nurses and staff that work there, and the concensus from the information I gathered there is that Ellie is by far the cutest baby they have ever delivered there!! It's true! I really did ask...I just said "Isn't this by far the cutest baby you have seen here...and each and every one answered "Yep, she sure is!" So there you have it.
I would also like to put in a good word for my brave little girl Jessica..through all of this she held right in there and didn't lose her composure, and she did much better than I did when the doctor announced he was taking the baby by C-section. I wasn't prepared for that and felt an overwhelming desire to tell the doctor "No, you just can't do that" Also, Kudo's for Rob, you were a trooper and what every pregnant wife hopes their husband will be...thanks for taking care of my Jess...through thick and thin!
Now, from a proud grandma to her loyal Blog audience...here are some Ellie and family pictures!

On to happier times.........a new puppy..a new grand-daughter and images of summer!
It's always hard to lose a loved one, but I do feel that their passing is a reminder of just how precious life really is. Life is meant to be lived and enjoyed every minute, and you can't take one moment for granted. So, my blog to today is a celebration of good things, summer and great times to come!
I really don't know how I could be any more lucky than I am these days (sorry guys out there but this could get a bit mushy for a moment) Except for a few aches and pains (well maybe a little more than a few) I really do have the world to my advantage. I love where I live, who I'm married to and the life style I'm living! It's summer-time and the freshly mowed hay is intoxicating! You have to be a farm girl to appreciate it!
I have most all of my spring planting done, and will be finishing up today, I will have some pictures soon of my projects.
Tuesday we travel to Des Moines to assist in the project of brining our first grand-daughter into the world. I am both nervous, excited and concerned all rolled into one. It's a delicate balance between wanting to be there for every moment.....and yet making sure we don't in any way interfere with the private moments Rob and Jessica need to have and experience. I also want to make sure I'm out of throwing distance when Jessica decides she has had enough and begins to fling inantimate objects across the room.....she does have a bit of her mother's temperment..and childbirth can bring out the worst at times...haha! But, I'm very anxious to meet Ellie and can't wait.
So, in the meantime, before Ellie makes her appearance, Kurtis and I have adopted out own new little one......yes, I know I'm crazy, but, we did. Her name is Millie and she's a 9 wk old Corgi. She came from Riverdale which is by Bettendorf..and we just love her already. She came from a litter of 7 brothers and sisters so we did have a little crying last night, but it only lasted about 10 minutes and was over. I have already made arrangements with Grandma Lynch to baby sit Tuesday night when we are in Des Moines.....I hope Lucy doesn't take it too badly.
So, as you can see we have a busy week ahead of us....but full of excitement and fun...and afterall that is what life is all about!!
Until next time.......MOM
