SO...With the sweet smell of spring in the air....the temps reaching towards 70 degrees and the birds briskly making their nests....what is your idea of a wonderful activity for the day.....

Well, I took time to walk around our new fruit tree orchard..the trees look happy so far..no sign of any Deer bothering them yet...

I looked over my raised beds to see what is finding its way to the sun already. Here my patch of garlic is growing beautifully....looks like another fine crop on the way.......

And here.....her is my husband! I'm sorry, I don't mean to make fun of Kurtis, as everyone knows, I truly do adore him....but this was just too rich to let go by!! I mean, what the hell is this anyway??? A farmer, no.. A terrorist....no. A guy that apparently doesn't give a hoot how foolish he looks, carrying a weapon to kill...well, yes I think that has to be what it is. Kurtis was out "target" shooting...and I know he was having a good time..but gees!!!! Please note the ear-phones in the right hand...close attention to ear safety apparently far out weights attention given to proper apparel..hahaha.

Until next time....MOM

IN MEMORY
April 16, 2008

Monet finally gave up and headed off to Kitty cat heaven. Millie is going to miss you, she no longer has anyone to harass. I'm sure she will savor the permanent claw marks on her nose that you so lovingly scratched in there for her. Unfortunately, Monet, I think there are three more Corgi's (Kirby, Sinclair and Maggie) that will be waiting for you at the gates...tee hee.

You know...If I did this everyday, it wouldn't be as much fun.....
.....so, that's my story and I'm stickin' to it...
Gee, so much has transpired since my last blog. Kurtis and I had a delightful Easter with the kids in Des Moines..we had lots of good food and quality time with little Ellie. I am happy to report that the Easter bunny managed to find its way to Des Moines...Grandma gave him special instructions..and he (she) had plenty of nice things for the little girl and the bigger adult girls too. You know, once you are a mommy...your responsibilities continue even after your kids are well into adult-hood, besides I kind of enjoy sampling the goods......

This was a picture of Ellie after she got up from her nap time...she is just like Grandma, the first 20 minutes or so are her "leave me the hell alone" time, and of course she picked me to snuggle up with.....Check out the little quilt that mom made her with she was born..she snuggles with it all the time.

Here is Grandpa in phase two of waking up....OK, I'll kind of hang out here, but don't get too carried away messing with me yet...about 5 minutes after this picture she was up and on the go again....!! Her and Grandpa are real buddies (What do you think..?? about another year and she'll be ready for a Pony????)

Well, here it is..it doesnt look like much now, but in a week or two we have 24 fruit trees coming to occupy this area. The flags indicate spots for the trees seperated in each direction by about 20 feet. We have 13 apple trees, 5 peach trees, 3 cherry trees a apricot and some nut trees due to be delivered anyday. Here's the thing..if all goes well...keep your weekends free, bring lots of buckets and commit to a fruit eating healthy lifestyle!!!!! Oh, and be prepared to hear me cuss and swear about Deer alot in the near future!!

And....if the fruit trees aren't enough..there will be Cabbage, Broccoli, peppers (all kinds), strawberries, herbs, flowers...flowers, flowers......The greenhouse is well into production. It would certainly be nice if the weather would straighten out and manage to keep give a bit of sunshine...but so far..things are managing.

I just threw this one in...Millie has survived the winter just fine..as a matter of fact she is actually a bit over weight..Guess the winter was harsh enough she added on a few pounds for good measure....She was resting here in the yard, we had just gotten back from a nice mule ride out to burn some garbage.
Until the next time.....MOM
